Honorable Lynda Blake Skeen

The Honorable Lynda Rose Blake Skeen, 73 was called to her heavenly home October 8, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC. She was a resident of Asheboro and spent much of her time at their home on High Rock Lake. Mrs. Skeen was born March 16, 1943 to the late Locke and Maude Blake of Asheboro. She was a graduate of Grays Chapel High School and attended Campbell College and Queens College. Lynda served the citizens of Randolph County starting at the Clerk of Court's office in 1964 and was later elected as Randolph County Clerk of Court from 1986-2006, the first female to hold this position. In total, her service to the citizens of the county spanned for more than 42 years. Upon her retirement in 2006, Mrs. Skeen was presented with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine by then Governor Mike Easley for her lifelong service to the people of North Carolina, this being the highest honor bestowed upon a citizen in the state. Mrs. Skeen is survived by her loving husband Howard Skeen of their home with whom she recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved working in her flower gardens, watching birds, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She truly exemplified what it meant to be a mother and was devoted to serving the Lord in all things she did. In addition to her husband Howard, she leaves her son Mark Skeen and wife Katie of Florence, SC; daughter Kathy Skeen Whitaker and husband Scott of Winston Salem, NC; and six grandchildren: Logan Whitaker, Abbie Skeen, Noah Skeen, Ethan Whitaker, Ella Skeen, and Dawson Whitaker along with many other family and friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 12, 2016 6:00 - 8:00PM at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC. A memorial service will be held at Hopewell Friends Meeting, Asheboro, NC on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 2:00PM with burial following at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, NC.
