Gramel (Richard) Lee Gayness 68, Of Randleman went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday night July 17, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Richard was born on October 03, 1957, in Welch West Virginia to Elmer and Betty Woods who preceded him in death. Richard was married to the love of his life Linda Gayness for forty-six amazing years. Richard was a member of North Asheboro Church of God, and he loved his church dearly. Richard loved telling people about God and his love for them. Richard also loved spending his free time working in his yard and his garden. One of his favorite past times was fishing with his family. He also enjoyed working on old cars and going to classic car shows. He loved talking to his girls about the Ford Fairlane that he had when he was young.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his siter Mary Eastridge and her husband Michael, and his brother Fred Gayness and his wife Mary.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Linda. He is also survived by his two daughters, Alicia Sanseverino (Chris) of Randleman, and Danielle Gayness of Randleman. He is also survived by his grandchildren Emily Sanseverino, Christopher Sanseverino Jr, and Dakota Gayness. Richard is survived by his siblings, Harliss Ray Gayness of Texas, David Woods (Joanne) of Moyock, North Carolina, William Woods (Loretta) of Bishop, Virginia, Patricia Brown (Kevin) of Palm Coast, Florida. Richard is also survived by his sister-in-law Phyllis West (Keith). Richard is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins which he loved dearly.
There will be a visitation held for Richard from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Pugh Funeral Home 437 Sunset Ave Asheboro NC 27203 on Thursday July 23, 2026. The funeral service will be held on Friday July 24, 2026, at 1:00pm at North Asheboro Church of God 1373 Randolph Tabernacle Rd, Asheboro, NC 27203. A private burial will be held at a later date.
