Grace Elizabeth Walker Hix, 83, died November 17th after a brief illness. A visitation service will be held on Sunday, November 20th from 3:00-5:00 PM at Hart's Mortuary on Cherry Street in Macon, GA. A graveside service will be held at Asheboro City Cemetery in Asheboro, NC on Tuesday, November 22nd, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Asheboro City Cemetery in Asheboro, NC.
Mrs. Hix was born in Asheboro, NC on September 19, 1933. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Winslow Walker and mother, Olive Susan Johnson Walker and step-mother, Lillian Myers Walker. She graduated from Asheboro High School and Asheboro Business School. She worked as Treasurer and bookkeeper of Glass Service Center in Macon, GA for numerous years.
She was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church of Macon, GA, having been a member since 1965. Grace enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Alton R. Hix, III of Macon; two children, Bobby Hix (Karen) of Macon, Susan Gober (Mark) of Augusta, two sisters, Esther Walker Underwood, Helen Walker Marley (Larry) both of Asheboro, and three grandchildren, Ryan Gober of Tampa, Allison Biggee (Matt) of Buford, and Angela Hix of Pooler; along with and several nieces and nephews.
