Gary Earliwine, age 73, of Asheboro passed away on August 19, 2026 at Asheboro Rehabilitation & Healthcare.
Gary was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 5, 1953 to Ray and Teresa Kelly Earliwine. Gary was a very generous and giving man. He loved farm life and animals, especially horses. He loved being outdoors-hiking and fly fishing. Gary loved woodworking, making pens and knives. He built and raced his own dragster. Gary loved Hallmark movies and Christmas was his favorite time of the year. Breakfast was his favorite meal of the day, and he frequented Franklinville Diner and CJ’s.
He is survived by his children, Jason Earliwine (Cleveland) of High Point, Scott Earliwine (Jenn) of West Mifflin, PA, Bryan Earliwine of Asheboro, and Lesley Earliwine (Joe) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Shelby, Lane, and Wyatt; brother, Mark Earliwine (Colleen); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Melissa Earliwine.
The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Jason’s house in High Point immediately following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue.org, which is the organization that helped re-home Gary’s beloved horse, Hallie, with her wonderful new owner, Pam.
