Frances Roberts Elkins

Frances Moreleen Roberts Elkins, 84, passed away April 28, 2026 at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro, NC.

Fran was born August 9, 1941 in Greeneville, Tennessee. She graduated from Greeneville High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, Walt. During their marriage of 66 years, they lived in Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. She spent several years as a homemaker and then went on to have careers in orthodontics practices and insurance offices in the High Point, NC area, where her upbeat personality and warmth left a lasting impression on patients and customers alike.

Fran was a woman of the Christian faith who lived by Matthew 7:12: Do to others what you would have them do to you. Her values were evident in her everyday actions. Known for her fun-loving and bubbly personality, Fran never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she delighted in performing random acts of kindness that brightened the lives of those around her. There was truly never a dull moment when Fran was present; her energy and spirit were infectious.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James Walter "Walt" Elkins; her daughters Angela Kahn (Glenn) and Sandra Tysinger; her cherished grandchildren Michael Kahn (Danielle), Matthew Kahn (Emily), Carley Tysinger (Spencer White), and Cole Tysinger; as well as five beloved great-grandchildren, Colby Hopkins, Caitlyn Davis, Annie Kahn, Elsie Kahn, and Miller Frances Kahn. “Mimi’s” family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and joy in their company. She is also survived by nieces, Trina Estepp and Kelly Andrews, and many dear friends.

Fran was predeceased by her parents, Arlin and Malsena Roberts; her stepfather, Leland LaFollette; her brother, Harold Roberts, and a niece, Cindy Roberts Woods.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and serve as a reminder of the beauty, color, and laughter she brought into the world.

The family would like to express extreme gratitude to Cross Road Retirement Community Memory Care in Asheboro, NC for their loving care of Fran for the last two years. Heartfelt thanks also goes to the wonderful support that Amedysis Hospice care provided to her at the end of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
