Ethel Dennis Blake

Ethel Dennis Blake, age 96, formerly of Love Joy Road, Troy, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Autumn Care Of Drexel, Drexel, NC. Mrs. Blake was born November 27, 1917 at Mt. Gilead, NC, the daughter of Randall and Ola Hunsucker Dennis. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Troy until her declining health prevented her attending. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Union. Her church family was very dear to her. She was a talented seamstress who sewed for the public for many years. She previously worked at Smitherman Cotton Mill, United Mills and Bates Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Thomas Blake; four brothers: Frank, Max, James and Reece Dennis; one sister: Bonnie Morris. She is survived by one daughter: Doris B Story and husband, Joe of Valdese; two grandsons: Joe Story, III of Hendersonville and Charles Story and wife, Jennifer of Durham; four sisters: Ruth Saunders of Robbins, Blanche Harris and husband, Clayton, Marie Morris, Rebecca (Becky) Dunn and husband, Hughes, all of Troy; two brothers: Ira Dennis, Jesse Dennis and wife Mary Ellen, both of Troy; two sisters-in-law: Peggy Dennis of Albemarle and Hazel Dennis of Troy. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Troy, 401 E. Main Street, Troy with Dr. Phillips McRae and Rev. Raleigh Castelloe officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.
