Ernest Eugene Haithcock

Ernest Eugene “Gene” Haithcock, 78, of Asheboro passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Randolph Health in Asheboro, NC. He was born October 26, 1947 in Randolph County to Hurley J. Haithcock and Helen Elizabeth Waters Haithcock.

Gene will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, brother, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Peggy, for over 54 years. Gene worked 30 years as a technician for a communications company. He enjoyed golfing, watching Nascar, and fishing. Gene truly loved going to Topsail Island with his wife and family. You could find him on the beach making music, where he especially loved playing guitar and creating memories. Gene will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Haithcock of the home; brother, Gary Haithcock (Sheila) of Staley; sisters, Karen Howell of Franklinville and Anita Haithcock of Asheboro. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Haithcock.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 PM on January 29, 2026 at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main Street in Randleman. Funeral services start at 2:00 PM in the Eddie Pugh Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Joyce officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
