Elsie Edward "Ed" Reeder

Elsie Edward "Ed" Reeder, age 92, of Seagrove, NC was called home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2022.  He was born on April 5, 1930, to the late Alfred Isley Reeder and Ada Owen Reeder of Seagrove, NC.

Mr. Reeder's career was in textiles.  He worked with Burlington Industries as a weaver and retired from Ramtex, Inc. as a cloth designer.  He attributed his success in his career to God who gave him the ability and skills needed.  He was also a poultry farmer for 43 years.  Most importantly, he was a faithful man of God.  As a member of Bethel Church of God from his youth, he served his church as Sunday School Superintendent for over 40 years.  He loved his family dearly and expressed that love to us on every occasion and gathering.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reeder was preceded in death by his first wife, Vitas Hancock Reeder, brothers:  Wilbert (Pauline), Alvia (Frances), Lewis (Dorothy), Paul (Rosie), Tracy, Alton, and Lacy.  Sisters:  Ruth Paige (Glenn), Edith Yow (John), and Rachel Hancock (Elzie).

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Alene Hinson Reeder, son, Cecil (Debbie), grandsons, Matthew (Tracey), Adam (Catherine), and great granddaughters, Allison and Sarah Reeder, sister, Dorothy Stone (Thurman), sisters-in-law, Blanch Reeder, Lynn Reeder, and Ann Reeder, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Reeder will be at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at Bethel Church of God in Seagrove, NC on Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry May, Pastor, and Rev. Garry Reeder, his nephew.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Randolph Hospital and Alpine Health and Rehabilitation for their great care during Mr. Reeder's illness, and a special thank you to Hospice House of Randolph for their outstanding and compassionate care during his last hours.
