Elizabeth Lorraine Foley Freeman, age 65 of Asheboro, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at High Point Regional Medical Center.
Elizabeth was born on February 20, 1959 in Harris County, TX to Bud and Bertie Foley. She worked full-time as the Environmental Services director at the NC Zoo, and part-time at Lowes Foods. Elizabeth was the type of person that was always doing something. She was a hard worker, working 7 days a week most weeks. When she did have free time, she spent it focused on doing all she could. Elizabeth loved spending time with her grandchildren, vacationing with her daughters, going to the movies and thrift shopping. She never met a dog or a book that she didn’t think should belong to her and loved to rescue as many of each as possible. She had an infectious laugh and loved to tell corny jokes. She tried to always stay positive and try to uplift the people around her, even when she was having a bad day. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her nephews, Ryan and Tyler Foley.
Elizabeth is survived by her four daughters, Jennifer Cates (Billy Bonar) of Raleigh, Kathleen Garner (Jon) of Asheboro, Christine Callicutt (Jordan) of Asheboro, and Colleen McLaughlin (Blake Henley) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Evey, Cameron, Garrett, Nora, and Sully; brother, David Foley (Shelia); and her sister, Lora Howard (Bryan).
Elizabeth did not want a funeral service but wanted to have a celebration of life in her memory. Elizabeth's celebration of life service will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Education Center, 2663 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205. Please celebrate Elizabeth by wearing bright colored clothing or your best Hawaiian print shirt to the service!
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth requested plants instead, or donations to the local ASPCA, 300 W. Bailey St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
Elizabeth touched so many lives around her during her short time and will be greatly missed by all.
