Edwina “Pug” Norman Yeatts, age 95 of Asheboro, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her beloved husband George on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, at Cross Roads Retirement Community. Her loving niece, Cheryl, was by her side, holding her hand and praising the Lord with music until He took her home. Her funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Asheboro, on Saturday, January 3rd at 11am and the family will receive friends starting at 9:45am, prior to the service. A burial will follow at 2pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Reidsville.
Edwina was born in State Road, Wilks County, NC on April 30, 1930, to the late Earnest Graham Norman and Mildred McCann Norman. She was the youngest of four children and was a graduate of Leaksville High School, Class of 1948. She was also a four-year Graduate of Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC and also graduated from the School of X-Ray Technology of Danville, Va. Edwina worked as a X-Ray Technician for Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Va and then moved to Asheboro, NC and worked for Randolph Hospital when her Husband George was transferred to the area for work.
Edwina was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Asheboro where she was a part of the Women’s Ministries that included various missions and events involving the church. Pug, as she was known to most, was always up for a good laugh and was quite a character! She did not love to cook but was known for her delicious homemade ice cream and cobblers. She had her opinions, and she could disagree with you and state her thoughts, but she still loved you just the same in the end! She had an awesome heart and loved her family and friends dearly! In her younger years she loved riding horses, and it was said that Danny, her horse, was known as “Her First Love”. Throughout her life, she and her husband had chihuahua puppy dogs that they treated like children and loved as much. She enjoyed singing, sang in the adult worship choir and then in the nursing home outreach group “Joyful Singers”. She truly loved her church and her church family!
She is survived by her beloved niece Cheryl Fulcher Barbour, who was like a daughter to her and numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved very much! Preceding her in death were her husband George Howell Yeatts, Sister: Juanita Norman Fulcher and her brothers: Frank Norman and Ralph Norman.
During the past few years Pug and her husband George had the most Loving and Wonderful Care at the Cross Roads Retirement Community - Memory Care Unit. They were truly treated with the upmost love and respect . . . They were loved like family!
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Cross Roads Retirement Community/ Memory Care Unit, 1302 Old Cox Rd, Asheboro, NC 27205 or First Baptist Church, 133 N Church St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
