Obituary

Edward Eugene Stills, age 50, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away on May 2, 2026, in Florida.

Edward was born on October 25, 1975, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Eugene Enoch Stills and Wanda Davis.

Edward was a man with a larger-than-life personality who never met a stranger. If he met you, he loved you. He had a gift for making people laugh and was known for giving everyone nicknames. If he picked on you, it meant he cared about you. Edward lived life fully and was always ready for a spontaneous adventure, never caring much for plans as long as family and friends were involved.

He had many hobbies throughout his life and always gave his full attention and effort to whatever interested him at the time. Edward loved bluegrass music and was a member of the Stills Family Band, where he played guitar and sang. He started teaching his children bluegrass music at a young age, sharing his love of music with them. He also loved camping, especially the recent trip to Indiana, swimming, cigars with friends, antique tractors, politics, and spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed working on antique tractors with his son.

Edward was a lifelong learner who enjoyed studying, teaching Bible studies, and leading youth and young men toward the Lord. He had a deep faith and a servant’s heart, always willing to help anyone in need. He was known as someone who could fix almost anything and would not stop until a job was done right.

As a young man, Edward worked on the family chicken farm manually gathering eggs. Though he once got kicked out of school, he later earned his GED and attended Kings College in Charlotte, where he studied computer programming. It was there that he met the love of his life, Lisa (A.K.A Sweet thang), whom he married in 1998. He went on to work in the IT department at Wells Fargo for over 20 years where he built a career and lasting friendships.

Edward loved his family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. In retirement, he looked forward to spending even more time with his wife, children, and future grandchildren. He loved hard and lived hard, and the quote, “All men die, but not all men truly live,” described him well.

He also had a special bond with his mother and proudly embraced being a “mama’s boy.” He loved giving her a hard time, and nothing compared to his mama’s cooking.

Edward is survived by his wife, Lisa Stills; his son, Noah Stills; his daughter, Kayleigh Stills; his mother, Wanda Davis; his father, Eugene Stills; his stepfather, Bill Davis; his sisters, Shelia Stills and Tammy Walker; his father-in-law, Carlos Shideler; his mother-in-law, Connie Shideler; his beloved dog, Remi; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and his church family.

Pallbearers will be Scott Jones, Jason Cogley, Chase Ellison, Owen Whelan, Carson Coltrane, and Ethan Davis.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Wesleyan Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4:00 p.m.

Burial service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Grays Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
