Dorothy Scott Trogdon Key

Dorothy Scott Trogdon Key, age 92 of Asheboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Randolph Hospice House.

Dorothy was born on September 18, 1932 in Randolph County to Burgess and Grace Lyndon Scott. Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Asheboro High School and attended Brian Business College. She worked as an Executive Secretary for 29 years with the Harrelson, and later, Oliver Rubber Company. Dorothy was a long-time member at First Wesleyan Church in Asheboro where she played the piano and organ for years. She always thought of her piano as one of her “best friends”. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husbands, Gilbert Trogdon, and William Key; brothers, David and Jim Scott; and her sister, Joanne Morgan.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Terri Trogdon Fussell (Berry) of Willard, NC, Kent Trogdon (Judy Deines) of Asheboro, and Eric Trogdon (Janet) of Ontario, Canada; stepdaughter, Kathryn K. Fagg (Phil) of Moravian Falls, NC; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Bill Scott (Aquila) of Lexington; and her sister, Linda Mann (Ron) of Asheville.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 12:15 pm – 1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC 27203. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm in the Glenn “Mac” Pugh Chapel with Rev. Mark Beane officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oaklawn Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and staff at Randolph Health and the Randolph Hospice House for the love and care they provided to Dorothy.
