Donna Ruth Brown

Donna Ruth Brown, 92, passed away at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital on Saturday , June 7, 2025, with her family by her side.

Donna was born on December 30, 1932 to Clarence Monroe and Ethel Mae Roberts Brown. She was the first of five children, all born and raised in Randolph County, NC. Upon graduating high school, Donna furthered her education at The Women’s College, now known as UNC Greensboro. After earning her degree, she went to work as a successful accountant. Donna was an incredibly intelligent woman, excelling academically and in her career. Since childhood, she was an avid reader. After retiring, Donna pursued her love of reading and became a librarian at the Randolph County Public Library.

Although Donna never married or had children of her own, she adored her siblings, her nieces and nephews and her great nephews. She is survived by her loving brother and youngest of five children, Gilbert Ray Brown (Kathy) of Asheboro. In addition, Donna is survived by: sisters in law, Janie Brown of Burlington and Linda Sue Brown of Dobson; nephew, Michael Brown of Burlington; nieces, Melinda Gammon of Knoxville, TN, Debra Brown Jessup (Kevin) and family of Cornelius, Kim Brown Staley and family of Asheboro, and Susannah Brown of Hickory.

Donna Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ethel Brown, brothers, Carl Brown and Mickey Brown, and Lynn Brown.

The family will commemorate Donna’s life in a public Graveside Service on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 2:00pm, held in the Union Grove Christian Church Cemetery, 3985 Old NC Hwy 13 Asheboro, NC 27205. Burial will follow the service, where Donna will be laid to rest next to her mother and father.
