Donald Curtis Strother, age 73, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Strother was born in Onslow County, NC on May 9, 1947 to Ralph and Litha Brown Strother. He retired, after more than 25 years, as the Head of Circulation in the Campbell University Library. Donald loved to point people to Jesus and was an ordained minister. He served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and Deacon in the churches he was involved with over the years. Donald was a joyful man who lived life to the fullest. He was compassionate, a faithful servant, and extravagant in his giving. Donald was a beloved grandfather and loved Campbell University and his Cross Road Retirement Community.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Bouldin Strother; son, Donald Worley Strother of Asheboro; daughter, Litha Strother Charles of Asheboro; grandchildren, Hannah Faith, Luke Alexander, Chloe Grace, and Abigail Hope Charles; brothers, Douglas Grey (Maryann) of Jacksonville and Tommy Strother of Cary; and sister, Peggy Collins (James) of Youngsville.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road in Asheboro with Dr. John S. Rogers, Dr. Scotty Carpenter, and Justin Curry officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
