Donald Ray Medlin

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Donald Ray Medlin, 76, of Asheboro, North Carolina on September 12, 2026.

Born in Concord, NC in 1949 to Reece and Lula Medlin, Don grew up with a deep appreciation for family, community, and the simple joys of life. As the original owner of Mountain View Market in Sophia for more than 30 years, he built a career marked by dedication, integrity, and kindness toward everyone he met. Friends and family will remember him for his warm smile, quick wit, and unwavering generosity. He was the kind of person who made others feel seen, valued, and cared for.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reece and Lula; his brothers Gerald and Tommy; and his granddaughter Brandi.

He leaves behind by his children, Angela Medlin Rush, Jennifer McCurry (Richard) and of course, Buddy. He is also survived by his grandchildren Casey Skipper and Joshua Floyd, his sister-in-law Jo Medlin, and numerous great grandchildren that he cherished deeply.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00PM, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 10:00AM, at Randolph Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
