Mrs. Clara Mae Maness Brooks, 87, of Asheboro, passed away Thursday morning, August 27, 2026,

at Randolph Hospice House after a period of declining health. Mrs. Brooks was born in Moore county but

made her residence in Randolph County. She was married for 50 years to the love of her life, Glenn

Douglas Brooks and together they raised 3 children. Her life truly depicted that of a Proverbs 31 woman

in the way she loved and cared for her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other

family members. Mrs. Brooks was a faithful member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. She also

taught kindergarten at Fayetteville Street Christian School for well over 40 years. She loved helping

shape the lives of each student. Mrs. Brooks was known as the best biscuit maker God ever created.

She loved gardening, freezing and canning, as well as sewing clothes, even clothes for barbie dolls.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by her 2 daughters, Vanessa Gale Lovette of Randleman and Sheryl Nance

(Troy) of Asheboro. Her 6 grandchildren: Aleisha Smith (Chris), Kayla Ammons (Chad), Miranda Lowe

(Lance), Hannah Nance, Dylan Nance (Crystal), Ethan Nance (Brionna). Her 10 great grandchildren:

Mason Kinley; Elizabeth, Natalie, and Raleigh Smith; Nathan, Jack, and Emma Lowe; Grayson, Layton,

and Colton Ammons. One sister, Sally Routh (Larry) of Sophia, two sisters-in-law Trudy Maness, and

Cindy Brooks and one brother-in-law Don Itson. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was

preceded in death by her husband Glenn Douglas Brooks, her son, Wayne Douglas Brooks, her parents

Albert and Omma Maness and her two brothers Arnold and Ferrell Maness.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home of

Asheboro other times at the home of Clara Brooks. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1,

2026 at 11:00 am at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, 901 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with

Rev. Randy Browder and Rev. Daniel Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Baptist Church

Cemetery, Seagrove.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Clara Brooks’ memory to Fayetteville

Street Christian School of Asheboro. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is honored to be serving the
