Cecil William Luther, 92, of Asheboro passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Cecil was born on April 8, 1928 to Dewey and Lucille Luther.
Cecil retired from the Department of Corrections after 23 years of service. He loved to go to the mountains and get apples, fishing at the river, hunting, sit on the back porch in the sunshine, and plant every seed he could get ahold of.
Cecil leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years, Elbia Allene Luther; sons, Sammy (Joyce), Edward (Linda), Jerry (Tina), John (Tina), and Paul; daughters, Naomi Chriscoe (Charles), Delores Richardson, Gwen Cox, and Lynne Garner; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters, Mozell Callicutt, Florence Chisholm, Marcie Hill, and Oteen Boykin; and brother, Ralph Luther.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Coltrane, grandson, Steven Mark Lamb, and brothers, Sampson Luther and wife Sarah, and George Luther and wife Jewel.
Cecil's body will lie in repose on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Wansley officiating. Burial will be held in the Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery.
