Carol Ann McKinney Slagle

Carol Ann McKinney Slagle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on September 16, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Anna Laura McKinney. 

Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Van Slagle; her son, Chad Slagle, and his wife, Gina; her grandchildren, Corbin and Brynn; and her sister, Brenda Corris. Despite a long battle with Alzheimer’s, she remained at home, surrounded by love and cared for by her husband until the day of her passing. 

Carol dedicated her life to making the world a better place. A lifelong educator, Carol dedicated 32 years to teaching elementary school, primarily in Guilford County, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth, patience, and passion for learning. Her commitment to kindness extended beyond the classroom where she actively supported numerous charities and causes throughout her life. 

Carol lived with unwavering Christian faith, always guided by a spirit of generosity and compassion. 

At this time, no memorial service is planned. In honor of Carol’s memory, the family invites those who wish to do so to make a donation to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Dr, Asheboro, NC, 27203, whose support was invaluable during her final journey.
