Blanche Elizabeth Cox Powell

Blanche Elizabeth "Granny" Cox Powell, age 96, of Sophia died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mrs. Powell was born May 4, 1920 the daughter of Percy and Leoline Routh Cox. Blanche was a native of Randolph County and a member of South Plainfield Church. She was formerly employed at A.J. Sniderson and Pinehurst Textiles. Blanche was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, Blanche is preceded in death by her husband John Kyre Powell, sisters: Ruth Lineberry, Mary Routh, and Louvelia Morris; brothers: John Cox and Charles Cox. She is survived by her son: Fred Powell and his wife Ruth of Sophia; grandchildren, Annette Matthews of Archdale, Jeff Powell and his wife Jennifer of Sophia, and Sharon Petty of Sophia; great grandchildren: Mackenzie Matthews, Emily Matthews, Mason Matthews, Judson Petty, Rylie Petty, Baylor Petty, Sabrina Powell, and Cameron Powell; sisters: Rachel Davis of Sophia, Doris Trogdon of Franklinville, Irene Surratt of Level Cross, Martha Williamson of Randleman, and Margaret Ester of Randleman; brothers: James Cox of Asheboro, Wayne Cox of Asheboro and Percy Cox Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at South Plainfield Friends Meeting, with Rev. Hugh C. Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to South Plainfield Friends Meeting, 4033 Plainfield Road, Sophia, NC 27350
