Betty Lee Davis Dickerson Lewallen, age 88, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lewallen was born in Randolph County on December 9, 1933 to Lewis Henry and Lola Nelson Davis. She was a member of C-4 Church. Betty began working at the age of 18 for Blue Gem and retired from Specialty Garments after 65 years of service. She was a member of the Square Dance Club and Corvair Club. Betty enjoyed traveling and was a member the Randolph Ramblers Camping Club. She was a country girl who loved being outdoors and loved watching Duke basketball. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Dickerson and Bobby Lewallen.
She is survived by her children, Lola Goins (Perry) of Asheboro, Betty Dale Smith (Mike) of Asheboro, Christine Johnson (Darrell) of Asheboro, , Robert Cox Lewallen, Jr. (Carol) of Greenville, Melanie Lewallen of Raleigh, and Lori L. Butler (Jesse) of Green Cove Springs, FL; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; and brothers, Kent Davis of Franklinville and Danny K. Davis (Dalois) of Graham.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Whites Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ed Arroyo and Pastor Tim Isley officiating.
We would like to share our heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers of Brookdale Assisted Living and most recently Clapps Nursing Care Facility. They demonstrated the utmost respect, care and love to our mother during her time there.
In lieu of flowers a gift could be made in honor, or memory, to Central Carolina Community Church of Asheboro.
