Mrs. Betty Shehan Garner 94 of Asheboro passed away Saturday morning, August 1, 2026, after an extended period of decline.
Mrs. Garner was born in Unicoi County, TN on March 29, 1932 to Samuel and Larissa Wallace Shehan. Betty was formerly employed with General Electric. She was a member of Seagrove Methodist Church, where she enjoyed doing charity work. Betty loved reading and baking and was well-known for her chocolate pound cakes. Most of all, Betty loved her family and spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Wallace Garner and her daughter, Darlene O’Steen.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Jones (Robert) of King George, VA; son-in law, Chris O’Steen; grandchildren, Larissa Jones (Benjamin) of Durham, Patrick O’Steen (Rachael) of Wilmington, and Marissa O’Steen.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park with Rev. Neal Brantley officiating.
