Barney Charles Greene

Barney Charles Greene, age 96, Asheboro died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro. Mr. Greene was born April 7, 1920 the son of Hadley Robert and Minnie Bell Debery Greene. Mr. Greene was born in Montgomery County where he spent some of his childhood prior to moving to Asheboro where he lived the majority of his life. He retired from Acme McCrary in Asheboro after over 39 years of service and was a member of Balfour Baptist church where he was very active. Barney loved his bird hunting and was an avid gardener. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wives: Odessa Garner Greene and Jewel Lawrence Greene, sisters, Margaret Royce and Diza Hartsell, brothers, Lacy, Sam, Carl, Robert, Norvin and Harvey Greene. He is survived by his daughter, Lydia Geisheimer of Charlotte; nieces, LaVaughn Lewis and Teresa Simmons; nephews, Pervis, Joey and Tim Greene. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. The funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Joey Greene and Rev. Gary Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
