Alma Marie Harper

Alma Marie Harper passed away on March 9th, 2021 at the age of 85, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. She had been battling several different ailments that led to heart and renal failure. In her final days she was surrounded by a loving family, and a loving husband. Alma Harper loved going to the beach, all things that glittered, and most of all she loved her family. Anybody that knows Alma Harper knows that she loved jewelry, and also didn't mind letting you know if she didn't like it. Once, during their 50th wedding anniversary, Oris Harper compared her to 24 Karat gold, being that it was the purest, but also the most expensive. But all things aside, her love and compassion for family was insurmountable. She made sure that her kids never wanted for anything, and that the grandkids were spoiled. Alma is survived by her doting 91 year old husband, Oris Harper, of 67 years, along with her three loving children, daughter Sharon McNeil, and sons Steve Harper (Crystal) and Scott Harper (Betsy). She was a proud grandma to Dale McNeil (Christine), Chastity Maynard (Garrett), Stephanie Smedley (Robert), Ann Marie Harper (Danny Nunez), Steven Harper (Amanda), Scott Harper (Lori), Burnie Harper (Jamie Crumley), Dwight Harper (Kristin), and Seth Harper. To top it off she had 14 great grand-children Ciara Musgrave (Avery), Destiny McNeil, Dillon McNeil, Mason Maynard, Cole Maynard, ILA Maynard, Logan Harper, Natalie Harper, Brinley Harper, Kylee Austin, Aria Harper, Luke Smedley, and Theodore Harper. Four great-great grandchildren Noah McNeil, Briella Williams, Wyatt Harper, Levi Harper, Emmilyn Smedley. Alma and Oris Harper loved to take the family for summer vacations to the beach, where the grandkids ran wild and free, and the adults were allowed to have a little bit of quiet time. Alma will lie in repose on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. The Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Eller officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
