Albert Allison "Al" Avinger, Jr., age 86, of Randleman passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Avinger was born October 6, 1934 the son of Albert Allison and Vera Hadden Avinger. Al was born in Union County, SC and raised in Burlington. He graduated from Walter Williams High School and earned two associate degrees from Alamance Technical College and served in the US Naval Reserves. He was employed with Beaman Corp. for 25 years and retired from Guilford County Child Support Enforcement. Al was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church. He loved to fish and was intrigued with genealogy, and also an avid Carolina Tarheel fan. Al is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife: Susan Robertson Avinger of the home; son, Randy Alan Avinger (Tracey) of Durham; daughter: Sandra Elaine Paisley (Greg) of Winston-Salem; stepsons: Patrick Ray Butler (Linda) of Randleman, and Christopher Todd Butler (Karen) of Greensboro; 4 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister: Gloria Summerlin (John David) of Badin.
A private service will be held with Rev. Joel McDuffie officiating.
