A Celebration of Life for Ahmad Rashad Horton

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Ahmad Rashad Horton, 49, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord.

Ahmad was born on June 12, 1977, in Chatham County, North Carolina, to the late Harold David Horton Sr. and Clyde Ella Fraizer Horton. He is now joyfully reunited in glory with his parents, who preceded him in death.

To know Ahmad was to experience a force of nature. He was a man whose presence filled a room—sometimes quite literally with the booming volume of his voice. Anyone watching him hold a passionate, loud conversation might have thought an argument was brewing, but those who loved him knew it was just Ahmad being Ahmad. He was armed with a razor-sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and a mischievous streak that started young. Growing up, he might have been the one who helped get you into trouble, but he was also the fiercely loyal companion who stayed right by your side to endure the punishment.

Above all else, Ahmad was a deeply devoted family man with a heart of pure gold. He was a loving husband to his "partner in crime," Frances, and an incredible father. To his children, he was far more than just a dad; he was a best friend who was always there whenever they needed him. Ahmad was a pillar of support who would do anything to help you achieve your goals, and he would never shoot down an idea—unless, in his trademark blunt style, he had to let you know it was just a really bad one. Outside of his family, his greatest passion was for his dogs, a love so deep that it led him to proudly own and operate his own kennel.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of devotion, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Frances A. Horton; his loving children, son Xzavier R. Horton and daughter Adreanna C. Hilliard; and his precious granddaughter, Cambri B. McLean, who was a light in his life.

His memory will also be forever held dear by his devoted brothers, Harold D. Horton Jr. and Jared J. Horton; his loving nieces, Makayla N., Madyson A., and Skylar M. Horton; and his nephews, Gabriel D., Jaiden E., Landon P., Harold D. Horton III, Grayson D., and Easton L. Horton; along with a host of extended family, dear friends, and a community that was blessed by his life.

A Homegoing Service to honor and celebrate Ahmad’s life will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Glenn “Mac” Pugh Chapel. A public visitation and gathering of family and friends will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM, with the Celebration of Life service immediately following.
